Renowned QiGong and TaiQi Master, Dr Michael Lan will be teaching this ancient art of Qigong known in English as The Eight Pieces of Brocade. It is the oldest QiGong form known to man. Having been practiced for many centuries to develop mental and spiritual development and growth, this is the highest level of QiGong any human can achieve. It entails training the whole physical body to push through and reach Chen Ming, meaning spiritual illumination. We do not teach the modern style of ‘health’ or ‘medical’ QiGong, which we believe is a dilution of the real art form. Yet, this form can never simply be broken down to a few simple physical movements. It’s so much more than that. This particular form Dr Lan teaches, comes from the ancient original version of the form and has been passed on from Master to Master. Dr Lan is dedicated to these ancient original forms of QiGong and TaiQi and do

not believe in cutting corners, or performing a set of movements that are just for show. This is a deep internal form of QiGong you won’t easily find in today’s busy, impatient world.

There are 8 movements in the Ba Duan Jin form, which the beginners amongst you will learn during this workshop, while our advanced students will recap on the foundational elements, and work on deepening their practice, which is a very important part of QiGong.

The amount of experience and wisdom shared to participants in our workshops can not be compared. It’s backed by Dr Lan’s 35 years of dedicated training, passion, commitment and service to humanity in order to uplift the human collective.

Following the workshop, there will be an optional lunch à la carte at Tao Yuan Restaurant in Sea Point. Auntie Mary Chen has been a stalwart in the industry having opened her latest restaurant after the pandemic at the tender age of 82, this after being in the industry for longer than anyone else in this country. Tao Yuan still serves the best asian cuisine in Cape Town, even if some feel the interiors may need some updating. It is all about sharing and connecting, which we always enjoy after an enlightening workshop.

Any students of our Somerset West teacher, Lesley-Ann Green, can confirm their attendance directly with Lesley. The rest may RSVP to our Hout Bay Beginner Level Teacher, Diane Gascoigne, on kangridiane@gmail.com.

You’re all very welcome to join us although please keep in mind that our new space is intimate so we don’t hold classes bigger than 15 students. Once we have 15 participants registered, we will close registration.

We’re looking forward to practicing together and sharing a sociable lunch afterwards if you so wish.

MORE ABOUT MOUNT LIU SANCTUARY

At our newly built sanctuary, we will welcome you to our Temple of the Tao where we will offer regular meditations (plus dedicated times to do self guided meditations), TaiQi & QiGong training, plus gatherings and educational sessions about Qi, spiritual development and how we can co-create this beautiful New Earth (some call it Heaven on Earth) that we all look forward to. It also houses our new healing practice (which you came to know as Jing-An over the years), where we will offer the traditional Jing-An healing modalities, but in a more holistic energy healing kind of way, which for us goes much further than just acupuncture per se. Patients and guests will also have access to our new Earth Cabin, which is surrounded by beautiful trees, and mountains. So if you’d like to turn your healing treatments and one-on-one sessions into a longer stay-over retreat experience, you will now have that option. We are also busy developing our new Medicine Garden, and also plan to have a Sacred Circle in the coming weeks for inspirational group gatherings around the fire. With our beautiful Earth Cabin you will be able to have your own custom resigned retreat programme made up of as many one-on-one mentorship & guidance sessions, meditations, QiGong and/or TaiQi training sessions, as you wish. You can also enjoy energy healing and acupuncture on site without having to face the traffic when you leave our zen space. Get in touch at info@jing-an.co.za if you’d like to get more details on our retreat programmes.

If you’d like to book any treatments, the new sanctuary will be ready for appointments from Wednesday 20 November onwards. Please email info@mountliu.com to make your appointment.
